A World Seen Through a Glow: XPPen Brings True Colors on a Young Artist’s Canvas
At XPPen, we have always believed that creative technology reaches its highest purpose not through hardware specifications alone, but through the barriers it helps creators overcome. We have dedicated ourselves to listening to artists from every corner of the world, understanding their lived realities, and engineering tools that empower each individual to express themselves freely and comfortably.
It was through this deep connection with creators that we had the privilege of meeting Ayşenaz Türk—a 19-year-old creator from Turkey whose quiet resilience, distinct artistic voice, and genuine passion deeply inspired our team.
Born with glaucoma, Ayşenaz sees the world through a soft haze and natural glow, making harsh glare an everyday challenge for her eyes. While physical limitations kept her inside during childhood play, a sketchbook in a quiet classroom became her open horizon. Today, that sanctuary lives on in her digital art. On the XPPen Magic Drawing Pad, she brings her characters to life with the 16K pressure levels of the X3 Pro Slim Stylus, enjoying a natural, paper-like creative experience on the X-Paper Display.
Here, Ayşenaz shares her journey, the reality of navigating art with visual sensitivity, and how the right digital creative tools help her continue her artistic path with greater comfort and ease.
Discovering a Sanctuary in Drawing
XPPen: First of all, could you tell us a bit about yourself?
Ayşenaz: I'm Ayşenaz Türk. I'm 19 years old. I was born with glaucoma. I went to an Anatolian High School and graduated from the English track, and I didn't go to university. My favorite hobby is drawing.
XPPen: When did drawing first become an important part of your life?
Ayşenaz: Because I was born with glaucoma, I couldn't go outside and play as freely as other children when I was young. Getting hit on the head was a risk for me. So I chose drawing as an activity to keep myself occupied.
XPPen: How does the way you see the world shape your artistic style?
Ayşenaz: I tend to see colors and my surroundings with a little more of a glow. So in my drawings, when light hits something, I like to make it shine more brightly.
I would describe my drawing style as a realistic cartoon style. I usually draw in an anime style, with big eyes and smoother facial and body features. But I really enjoy making the shading and coloring more realistic.

XPPen: Where do you find your inspiration?
Ayşenaz: I get a lot of inspiration from the things I watch and listen to. Sometimes I turn what a piece of music makes me feel into a drawing. I'm open to many different kinds of music, so I also enjoy creating drawings with different themes and styles.
As for what I watch, I'd say Hunter x Hunter. There's also Violet Evergarden. I really love its art style and especially its coloring. I love detailed coloring too, and I try to apply it as much as I can.

Supporting the Artist Behind the Canvas
XPPen: Compared with drawing on paper, what opportunities has digital drawing given you?
Ayşenaz: The most important thing is that paper reflects too much light, and with too little light it becomes hard to see. You also can't change the background color of the paper. But digitally, you can change the canvas color whenever you need.
You can also zoom in as much as you want. I have magnifiers at home, but sometimes even they aren't enough. Digital drawing makes things so much easier for me, especially during periods when my eyesight gets worse.
The colors on a digital screen are also much more vivid, which helps me distinguish and see them clearly. And whenever you make a mistake or apply the wrong color, you can simply undo it and fix it immediately without ruining the drawing.
XPPen: What else about the digital drawing workflow makes the process especially easier for you?
Ayşenaz: I'm sure every artist will agree with me: layers.
For me, being able to adjust the opacity of a layer is especially important. Because when I sketch with light lines, I have trouble seeing them. So I have to make my sketch much darker. In traditional drawing, those marks can remain. But digitally, I can lower the sketch layer later or remove it completely. That makes the process much easier for me.
XPPen: While drawing on the XPPen Magic Drawing Pad, what stands out to you most about the tablet?
Ayşenaz: First of all, the size of the tablet is just right. It's clear to see, yet compact enough to take anywhere. It’s called a paper-like screen. The fact that it doesn’t reflect light at all is wonderful, even physical paper can reflect light, but this doesn’t. Because it’s described as paper-like, I actually expected it to have a rough texture, but it feels very smooth. The pen glides across the screen without catching, the pen tip feels great, and the sensitivity speaks for itself.
Also, the colors are very vivid, which helps me distinguish and see colors much more easily. Even in this short amount of time, I already feel so much more comfortable drawing on it.

XPPen: How would you describe XPPen as a brand, and how do you feel about our support for creators like you?
Ayşenaz: It makes me feel very special. I didn't just start following XPPen recently; I've been following XPPen Global for around five years. I've seen you support and sponsor many artists. That is why I see XPPen as a very supportive brand.
Envisioning the Next Chapter
XPPen: What's next for you? What would you like to do with your art in the future?
Ayşenaz: With the tablet and opportunities XPPen has given me, I want to improve my drawing even more. I'll keep drawing for as long as my eyesight allows. I believe this tablet will make my creative process much more comfortable.
I want to make a comic in the future—maybe take part in a project, or maybe create one of my own. Those are some of my goals. You never know where life will take us.
XPPen: What would you say to other creators who want to keep creating even when they face their own challenges?
Ayşenaz: I think the most important thing is to enjoy it. More than how good the final piece is, what matters is the process of creating it. If you're enjoying it, if we're enjoying it, then that's enough. We need to have fun and support one another.
Every genuine story in the creative community reveals how intimately art and human experience are bound together. Behind each stroke is an individual perspective shaped by personal journeys, memories, and distinct ways of seeing the world.
At XPPen, we continually turn our focus toward creators across different fields, diverse backgrounds, and unique personal stories. True innovation is never just about hardware, but is rooted in empathetic listening and a deep understanding of artists' journeys, ensuring creators always have a trusted partner supporting every way they create.
By learning from the lived experiences of creators, we strive to build purposeful tools that empower artists to pursue their passions comfortably and on their own terms. As Ayşenaz continues to explore new creative horizons, XPPen remains committed to standing alongside dedicated creators worldwide—living our enduring mission to bring artists the surprise of realizing the dream of digital art.
